  Improving Own Learning and Performance

This unit is about candidates’ ability to plan and review their learning and improve their performance. The specifications for Improving Own Learning and Performance have received final approval and are now available at levels 1, 2 and 3.

At level 1 candidates will be working closely with someone (for instance, a teacher, lecturer, tutor, trainer or careers adviser) to show they can: confirm short-term targets and plan how they will be met follow their plan to meet targets and improve their performance review their progress and achievements.

At level 2 candidates will be expected to show they can: help set short-term targets and plan how they will be met use their plan and support from others to meet targets review their progress and identify evidence of their achievements. At this level, candidates will be expected to take responsibility for some decisions about their learning and work without close supervision.

At level 3 candidates will be expected to show they can: agree targets and plan how these will be met use their plan, seeking feedback and support from others, to help meet targets review their progress and establish evidence of their achievements. At this level, candidates will be expected to take responsibility for directing their own learning without supervision.
